Planet Poker is one of the first multiplayer poker sites that came out on the internet - it has been online since 1998.
This is the home of Mike Caro, a legend in the world of poker with numerous books, videos, columns, and seminars
for the game of Poker. He is the founder of The University Of Poker that is featured on poker1.com website.
The PlanetPoker.com website is very clean and easy to navigate. I was able to find all the important information fast, regarding
special promotions and rules. I read on the rules page, that the Cashout frequency is limited to one per 5 day period, which I found
a bit strange.
You need to enter your full information and sign up with valid e-mail address directly
on the website before actually downloading the software.
The setup file was around 3.64MB and after the installation is complete you
can enter the games with the username that is send by e-mail.
I went online on a Thursday night around 10:30 EST. There were 550 players playing, and almost $25,000 on the tables.
The lobby of the software is pretty standard, with all the different games layed out and quick links to the main sections.
Lots of different options, including a Stakes Filter and a Player Count Filter that allows you to see only the tables that fit your
criteria.
The actual tables were very nice, with cartoon characters for each player, and smooth graphics. I played
in 4-5 different tables and I enjoyed the game a lot. You can only play on one table at a time though.
There are eight games available at Planet Poker: Hold'em, 7 Card Stud, 7 Card Stud (8 or Better), Razz,
Omaha, Omaha (8 or Better), Draw and Lowball. I didn't see a lot of players when I went in,
only 2-3 tables for each of the games. Lowball, Razz amd Omaha tables were completely empty (in the Real
Money mode).
Overall I think that Planet Poker is a good place to play. There are lots of interesting tournaments, including
playing against Mike Caro himself on dates posted at the website. I was expecting to see more players and action
on the tables, but at the end I enjoyed playing in peace without having to go through 20 tables to find a spot to sit.
